In March of 2008, the Ontario Building Code increased the minimum allowable R value in attics to R40. Many older homes actually carry an R value of R18 or less!
Poorly insulated attics can account for up to 30% of your heating costs escaping through your attic! A properly insulated attic will not only save you money but will also make your home more comfortable in both winter and summer and prevent the risk of mold developing due to excessive heat and condensation.
Currently, both the Federal and Provincial Governments have extended incentives that will pay for part, or in many cases, all the cost associated with increasing your attic insulation. Combine that with the savings on your energy bills and your insulating for free!
